スーパーボールに続き、国民的放送イベントとなって
いるオスカー争奪戦ですが、今回は試験明けでビール 飲みながら息子と少し見てました。 個人的に嬉しかったのはフォレスト・ウィッテカーが 主演男優賞をとったことです。 科学コミュニケーション的に気になったのはゴア元副大統領が 主演した地球温暖化ドキュメンタリー映画の受賞です。 写真など見たい方はこちら。
フォレスト・ウィテカーは、「クライング・ゲーム」以来
非常に好きな役者さんであり、USCのOBでもあり、最近 医療ドラマerに医療ミスの被害者として登場したことも あって非常に勝手な親近感を持ってオスカーの行方に 注目しておりました（彼の息子さんの名前はOcean君という そうで、ヤツと近いのも親バカな親近感の理由の一つです） ドラマerでの彼は医療ミス（というか事故）のせいで 半身麻痺となり、家族を失い職を失い、絶望の果てに 事故の際に担当だったルカを恨み、ついには殺そうとします。 その鬼気迫る演技と存在感はさすがでした。 彼のスピーチにはライバルだったレオナルド・ディカプリオ なども泣いてましたね。人に気持ちを入り込ませる人です。 聴衆を泣かせた彼のスピーチの原稿リキャップを 読みたい方はこちら ドキュメンタリー賞を受賞した、ゴア元副大統領が主演した 映画“An Inconvenient Truth”に関する色んな憶測に ついては こちらやこちらをご参照ください。 この本も地球環境問題が非常に政治的な話であることを 理解するのにとてもおすすめです。 華やかな舞台の裏にいろんな思惑があり、受賞はある 作用を生む効果があります。マス・コミュニケーションの 一つのプレイヤーとしてあのオスカー像を見る視点も 重要だと感じました。 あと気になったのは、作品賞・監督賞を受賞した "The Departed"の原作のInfernal Affairsを、別の賞の 受賞の時に日本映画とプレゼンターが間違って紹介していた ことでしょうか。まあアメリカ人にとってはあまり違いが わかんないんでしょうねえ。 原作にほれ込んでいた妻はリメイクで賞を取ることに ついて違和感を述べていました。確かに。 ------------------------------------- 追記：リンク切れに備えて引用しておきます。 “Thank you. It is possible for a kid from east Texas, raised in South Central L.A. in Carson, who believes in his dreams, commits himself to them with his heart, to touch them, and to have them happen. Because when I first started acting, it was because of my desire to connect to everyone. To that thing inside each of us. That light that I believe exists in all of us. Because acting for me is about believing in that connection and it's a connection so strong, it's a connection so deep, that we feel it. And through our combined belief, we can create a new reality.
